Hi,

I have a 2002 Pontiac Gran Prix that won't start after replacing the spark plugs. It started and ran fine for about 20 miles when I turned it off, and then when I went to start it back up it wouldn't start. Any ideas on why that would happen, or what I can do to fix it?

Thanks!

Charles

Did you take the plug wires off? Maybe got them switched up? That would be the first thing I would check. Also be sure you're posting up in the correct section, That way you're question yeilds the best results.

You said to make sure I'm posting in the correct section for the best results. Since I am new to this can you tell me how to get to the correct section please.

Thanks!

Yes I did take the plug wires off so I know that's not it. It still will not fire. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

Well if you took the plug wires off are you sure you did not get what cylinder that they were suppose to go to mixed up?

I'm positive. I changed the plugs one at a time. Like I said the other day it started right up after I put the plugs in and I drove it about 25 miles and then turned it off and went back out to start it and it wouldn't start.

with what you say my guess is that the spark plugs fouled and there for wont spark. Might i ask what kind of temperatures you live in?

Hey there,

Just curious, did you check the gapping on the plugs before you installed them? Is it possible you didnt firmly attach the wire to the top of the plug after the replace...you should have heard a distinct clicking noise.
