I live in Al and i just bought a 1995 Grand Prix SE runs good with a 1995 same color special edition with the white rims and cd changer and bad Trans....the good car (SE) could use a nice interior. so i have swapped the entire interior with the exception of the dash, and when swapping the radio (the SE had an after market headunit and they hacked the wires to pieces took out the harness and just had the rear speakers running..) well i used the harness and factory radio from the donor car and spliced all the wires except there are now 2 dark green wire that seem to do nothing. ive got the factory unit in with the 12 disc changer and everything works even steering wheel controls... but tthese wires are currently hooked to nothing. any ideas? oh and the center piece that covers radio and ac is all sticky like the rubber coating is deteriorating any ideas to salvage that part? so far this forum is great thanks for any help...

thanks for the reply. my steering wheel controls still work, im thinking it might be a speed sensor for volume??? does anyone know if it was something offered on the factory radio? like when the volume adjusts when you go faster to help compensate for road noise... my 96 buick regal had this.?

for the sticky center peice you basically could just sand it and repaint it or go to a junk yard buy a new one for a dollar or so.

I have the same problem with the dash and radio face plate. I went over them with some laquar thinner on a rag and it took it right off. Then I painted them and they look good as new.

thanks for the heads up. i was worried about eating up the plastic with the laquer thinner... you guys have been more than helpful. i hope to contribute whenever i can.
