• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hey guys, help please!!!

Hello everybody. This is my first post in this forum. Sorry, still not too sure how everything works, but I'll get the hang of it :) Anyway, hate to start off my introduction with a problem, but here it is. I have a 1997 Grand Prix GTP with about 140,000 miles completely stock. It has been running fine the past several months. In December, I recently changed the fuel filter, air filter, plugs, and wires, (can't remember the brands), and the car has been running great. However, I started having problems about 2 weeks ago. Recently, my check engine light has come on, the car will hesitate, and sometimes completely die if I gave it gas. It's strange though, the tach will suddenly DROP about 500 RPMS to completely dead if I give the gas a quick "hit," but will not hesitate at all if I first "baby" the accelerator to about 2500 RPM or so and then I accelerate as hard as I like. It will go without hesitation, but it feels like it lacks a lot of power. This occurs both in park and in gear. Anyway, I scanned it and it read the code "po102" mass air or volume circuit, so I assumed it was the MAF sensor, and I replaced it. Still had the check engine light on and same driving symptoms. I then replaced it with another MAF, and encountered the exact same thing. I checked all the wires and everything looks good. Just about ready to pull my hair out here! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks again.

Check the maf connector for the proper voltages. Which Chuck will supply for you in a minute with the schematic.

CHUCK.....hop to it buddy

Was just about to get some sleep. Hold on.

Hey again, I was looking at the schematic, and I'm just wondering how I go about testing the maf connector? Sorry, bear with me, I'm not too technical with this kind of stuff.

Hey bud.. if you didn't figure this out by now.. It sounds like your intake manifolds went bad.. probably warped or cracked, unfortunetly Pontiac decided to use plastic manifolds instead of metal and they go bad and warp after a while.. u may also notice anti freeze in ur oil( yellow tint to oil).. if there is, it has to be replaced ASAP! I suggest you replace both upper and lower intake manifolds ASAP.. OR HAVE THEM CHECKED OUT.. hope this helps!

just a guess there capital.. that explains hesitation.. loss in power and lower mpg.. (a heads up since i recently had this done to my gp)
