help with rear Koni red adjustment mechanism

I was fortunate enough to get this low-priced good performing car with Koni shocks already installed. The fronts just needed one click more damping to really improve the ride. I'm going to fix the loose steering rack or tie rods soon.

The rears have a different appearing mechanism than the fronts. It has this bent post sticking out from the top. Do I need a special tool to adjust? I don't just want to go at it with a pair of pliers. How many clicks, and which direction increases damping?
