So here it goes...And you think you've had a bad day
I have the greatest Grand Prix ever. 76000 miles without a problem. Just put new hubs and brakes on a few months ago. And new tires.
Then 3 weeks ago hit a rock that was thrown from a pothole by a truck while going down the highway. Size of rock - about 12 inches, Speed at impact 65mph.
Damage you ask? Blew the front right tire, cracked the rim.
Step 1 - order new rim from ebay - $130.
Step 2 - get new front tire - free because of road hazard damage.
Still lots of funny noises from under the car - that were not there before.
Step 3 - take to dealer. They recommend steering mid shaft? which they say is not related to accident, but is making the noise, rear stabilizer links - which are making noise but not related to the accident, and front R tie rod - from the accident and an alignment.
So I get the tie rod replaced and the car aligned. Now it runs worse than ever. One noise going straight, one noise going left, and one really loud noise turning right.
Step 4 - take to another dealer
The recommend replaceing the hubs - both are bad - and they can not diagnose the other problems until the hubs are replaced - so they want $850 before they can even try to diagnose the problem.
Well, I just replaced the hubs 5 months ago - with Timkin hubs bought on ebay. Bought the haynes manual also.
Now I have lost the manual
So here is my plan - replace the hubs with a set from Autozone.
But I need the following information
Torque specs for
1-caliper bolts
2-caliper bracket bolts
3-hub bolt
4-lug nuts
