help with exhaust

hey, i have a 02 grand prix gt that im looking to put on an aftermarket exhaust. i want it to have a real deep roar type of thing, with can be difficult with a v6. but what i was thinking was a 3 inch down pipe since i don't plan of boosting it. to the cat then a thrush glasspack to flowmaster 40s. will that work? any suggestions?

just bought a GTP with magnaflows and they dnt sound too bad. i also have a GT with headers and stock catback and it sounds good too...alot of setups will sound good at idle but almost everything sounds like poop at WOT

Stock mufflers sound worse than aftermarket ones.

True story.

Sounds like a cat choking on someones junk.

luckily for you when n/a the 3800 can be made to sound alright. when supercharged it's best to leave it quiet.

dont go real big on the exhaust, you'll waste money. max out at 2.5" piping and stick with a turbo 'style' muffler because you want to smooth out the tone, not make it more rough. too bad that there will never be any perfect combination that will actually net you a great sounding exhaust.

had some pople in the impala forums do a 1 muffler with 1 inlet and 2 outlets and with those 2 outlets make there dual exhaust and after hearing a few i think it sounds better then any catback with 2 mufflers.
