so a friend of mine recently bought a 99 grand prix gt at a dealership yesterday, then last night he had me look at it due to the tranny acting funny. so i go and look at it , first i check the fluid level and have to add almost 5 qaurts to get it in safe operation level. then i take it around the block and its shifting smooth and has converter lockup, but no third gear. so i check it again and its full but very brown. so i tell him to drive straight home being very easy on it, and to change the fluid and filter before he drives it again. well he didnt, he drove around town yesterday and no it only has first and reverse nothing else. the dealership bought it back and said they are going to scrap it.

so my idea is to buy the car cheap and put a trans in and have a nice gp.
i just your guys take on it, and would a fluid and filter change make any diffrence or get it running enough to drive it for a little while to work and back ?

it would porbly be easier just to put a whole trans in it. so you dont have to worry about takein the intereds out..depending on how cheap you can find one, it way be the cheaper option anyways
