HELP! Leaking fuel at the Rail!!

Hey guys, so it's been no secret to me that my 2003 Buick Regal Gs, had a very slow drip coming from the fuel rails, well this last week they two orings ( brown and yellow) have completely failed on the larger quick connect (3/8), I noticed fuel dripping heavily from the quick connect last week Friday, since then I went shopping locally for replacement orings, no luck, I eventually bought a pick and removed the orings or what was left dug them out, well I figured by doing this that I could show the orings to my local part stores to better identify the correct set, in the end it worked I found out that the orings are a dealership only item, however after the fact I'm considered that I may have damaged the seats for these very difficult to install and remove orings. My question to you guys, can I just replace the quick connect fitting alone, is there an oem part? Or a brand name replacement that will replace the metal factory fitting? I honestly didn't even know that there were orings inside the of the quick connect, which is why I'm wondering if their is replacement fitting that will function he same way( basically I want to know if anyone has ever tried the dorman fuel line connections that are made of plastic, are they even the same? are they made specifically for the 3800 series 2 engine?, like do they have the same orings in the same places, I don't want to install a part like this only to watch my fuel rails continue to leak.


my options have basically come done to the following:

1) order dealership orings and attempt to seat myself ( knowing that I may have damaged the seats and the leak may persist.

2) purchase brand new fuel lines with the quick connect already attached and with orings installed, then have a competent mechanic install them.

3) order the dorman fuel line fittings ( not sure if they come loaded with orings??) and attempt to cut my current nylon fuel line and attach these to the line and then to the quick connect.

4?) anyone PARTING out? I could purchase the entire line or just the connectors of you.


right now option 3 would be the most convenient , it would be easiest to simply just cut the line and attach a new fitting, but I have doubts that it could be so simple, option number 1 isn't really as feasible as it sounds, this car is my current daily driver and I need it running by Monday to get to work, I have no problem using a little elbow grease, but the earliest I could recieve the orings is by Friday or Saturday which wouldn't matter if the seats are fine, but I'm not sure I want to make that assumption , because if I'm wrong, I will have set myself back in the long run, when I could have used that time to order the correct parts that I need to SOLVE my current leaking fuel rail issue.

i will be updating this with pictures I have of my vehicle and the current fuel line problems, as well as pictures of things I mentioned in my above posts, such as the, pictures of the orings, and the dorman fittings, fuel lines.

no way you messed up inside the fuel line, yes its a pita to change the or rings. but do able. i did mine years ago due to a leak. installing them dont seem to be as bad digging them out really.

Hey Scotty, where did you get the replacement orings from? They don't exist at my local parts stores, and I just got off the phone with all 3 GM dealerships within a couple hundred miles two of which where satellites for gm. Anyway they couldn't find the orings, and told me I'd probably have to buy the entire lines, at roughly $180 a piece for two lines, all to get those both sets of brown and yellow orings.

I checked out that post you linked, and saw the univeraal replacements I was curious about, did they come loaded with the orings already? Or do you know the PN? Or where to buy some lol, thanks for your immediate reply.

the dorman part there in that post comes ready to go. cut splice and clip it on.

i got mine from a parts store, had to buy a box of assorted viton o rings, <<<those are rated for fuel use. matched em up and shoved em in. cost me like 8 bucks.
