help! 2000 gtp stalls randomly then starts up 5 minutes later!

hey guys kinda new here been trying to diagnose my grand prix but im havig some problems! it all started a couple months ago when my car died randomly in my parking lot but started up the next day. after that no problems for a couple weeks until it started to stall out on me on my morning drives to work. it would stall out no sputters or anything just dead. it would start up the 3rd or 4th try. I started to do this more nd more so I left it at my parents house for a month or so so my dad could get it looked at. needless to say he takes it into his shop the tech runs it on the scanner for 2 hours and nothing happens. he continues to drive it for 3 weeks and no problems at all! no I get my car back and it dies not even a mile from my parents house I trun it over nothing I try 5 times then it turns over finally! I was fed up. so I changed my fuel filter which was nasty btw clean my air filter, throttle body, IAC and replaced the fuel pressure regulator. after all that she died on me the next day. I have now bent the tab on my #15 relay for the low to high speed fuel pump. what can I do next ?! 2000 Pontiac grand prix gtp 231,000 miles ! hope you guys can help!!
 


Its a random thing no cels or anything but as of yesterday I have p171 I think bad o2 clogged injector or fouled plugs. I'm leaning towards the fouled plugs considering how bad my fuel filter was.
 


id have to say if you searched the forum here far and wide, every post that says, my car stalls out while driving, no warning at all, i noticed the tach drops to zero before it stalls, some times it starts right back up, other times it needs a tow truck. then will start when its back home 4 hours later......it was the crank sensor gone bad.
 
Had a similar problem just last week. I replaced a few other things and it turns out it was the crank sensor...
 


can i complete this job without having the "HB/steering wheel puller"? i only have hand tools no fancy pullers or anything!! :/ i was going to attempt to do this tomorrow morning..
 
you need a puller, like this one, and the right bolts, they are listed in that how to thread.

you can rent this type of puller for free at az or pep boys. but will have to buy the bolts you need from a hardware store.

but yeah that is the right tool for that. other than the starter beening in the wrong location. what car has the starter next to the harmonic balancer? I would like to slap that engineer
 
i dont have a clue what engine that is lol (stole it off the net) but like stated, its the puller you want to use, and no other.
 


I. New to pontiac a. But I had the exact same symptoms in my thunderbird supercoupe. Drove me nuts.
Changed it out havnt a stalling in 5 months. It's the crank sensor.
