Hello, My name is Mike. I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.8 LTR Supercharged VIN 1. I have been having an issue with one of the fuel injectors making a very high pitched noise. If I move the injector around the noise stops. If I spray starting fluid on it the noise stops. I have replaced the orings. Did not stop the noise. I replaced the injector with a used injector and new orings the noise stopped for about 2 days then started again. The last bit of info that I have been told is that there is a voltage surge going through the injector burning the injector motor out. I looked that up. And that could be a posibilty. But wouldn't the PCM pick that up and cause the check engine light to come on? Because the check engine light is not coming on. And if that was the problem with it, it wouldn't stop just by twisting the injector a little, right? Can someone please help me with this issue. I have a brand new injector that I am about to put in. However, at a $100.00 an injector I do want to put it in if it is a PCM/voltage issue and just burn the injector motor up.

Just a heads up, The injector is a solenoid not a motor. Also I have never seen in injector make a high pitch noise in the 10+ years of being a mechanic( Not to say that its not, I just have never seen it before). If a injector fails you would normally have a dead miss on the cylinder it failed on not a noise(which given time will turn the check engine light on). As far as the voltage spike, all 6 injectors get the same voltage supply so if it was a voltage spike it would be killing the other injectors as well. the only thing twisting It would do would move the O-rings on the injector. Just some info to help you with your problem
