Hi my name is Jim, I recently acquired a 1997 Gran Prix GT 3.8L. I hope to use this forum for some very good advice.

Okay now here is my issue, I just replaced the water pump, thermostat, all hoses, serpentine belt and removed the coolant resevoir to completly clean it out. I don't seem to have any leaks, but now my heater doesn't get hot when the car comes up to temp.

thanks i advance for any help,

Jim:confused:

welcome jim, make sure and post your questions in the appropriate sections next time, you'll get stuff answered lots quicker. the thermostat could be stuck open, but that's the only suggestion i've got for ya. try a new one? they're only 5 bucks

welcome

Did you flush your heater core? That could be the culprit considering all the other parts you've replaced.

You could have air in your cooling system, search for the proper bleeding procedure.

The guys on here can be really helpful, if not sarcastic or smart-assed sometimes :th_laugh-lol2:
It's for sure one of the better GP forums on the net, I read comments about how great it is here from people who frequent other forums all the time.

Im also from PA, where are you located?

I'm in PA as well!

You have air in your system, there is a bleeder on top of your upper hose on the intake manifold, you can crack that open. if you already drove the car, check the level it will be low. Add some more and run it with the cap off. Let it get up to temperature, you will have to add more coolant several times.

sseil, what part of PA are you from? I've already talked to zildjian, he's real close to me, and he's old news :p

I'm also in PA.

I'm with the other guys though. You either have air in the system and/or not enough coolant. If there isn't enough coolant it will bypass the heater core.

I'm from Easton PA. WOW I can't believe all the responses I got. Alot of good info Thanks, just to let everyone know it was air in the line. Car is running great and heater is working fine. ( good thing because it is starting to get cold again. )

Thanks to everyone again,
Jim:)

Which Easton? There is one in north centralish PA and then one on the Jersey border. I've got friends in the one out next to jersey that have a shop.
