Heating Issue with My 2004 Grand Prix

Hi everyone,

I am having trouble with the heating in my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, and I am not sure what?s causing it. The heater either isn?t blowing hot air at all or only gets warm for a few minutes before going cold again.

This started happening recently, and I have already checked the coolant level and it seems fine. The engine temperature gauge looks normal too, so it doesn?t seem to be overheating.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Could it be the thermostat, heater core, or something else? I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on what to check next.

Thanks!

If the temp gauge is working and reading correctly then your thermostat is likely fine.

When you checked the coolant, did you check it at the radiator or the overflow bottle? Having some heat then going cold sounds like a low coolant/air trapped system to me.

Core could be getting clogged up.

sounds like possible air in the system but I would suggest flushing the heater core, too.

when cold and first started, sometimes its possible to hear air gurgling in the heater core if there's air in the system.
