Heater issues

I have recently purchased a 2000 Grand Prix and have been driving it about a week. Yesterday on my way to work I had the heater on and it had been on for nearly an hour when suddenly every window in the car fogged up. I think it is suddenly blowing out moisture rich heat and Im not sure why. I thought about a leaking heater core but what is confusing to me is that it did it again on the way home that evening. I pulled the car over and shut the engine off. A few seconds later I started the engine and continued home and the foggy windows went away. Anyone have a clue if there is a switch or relay that might have reset when I shut it off and how I may fix the problem? The car does not run hot at all so far.

if the floor is wet the core is leaking and if you can smell a sweet smell.

if you smell nothing inside the car and the floor is dry, it could be the hose on the fire wall that connects to the heater cores leaking.

mine heater hose was leaking, and would cause the windshield to fog up.

Thank you for your input. the confusing thing to me it that it doesnt do it all the time. I do smell something unusual but i dont think its antifreeze. I have a chevy pickup that the A/C works on sometimes. when its running and stops cooling I smell a similar odor and I know the compressor stopped running.

feel the padding under the 2 hoses for the heater core on the fire wall. it its wet, or damp feeling, the hose is leaking.

when the car is good and hot, try moving the 2 hoses around some, it may leak for ya, if the hose is bad that is.

you can also lift the rug and see if its wet under there, there is a lot of foam so just touching the rug may not reveal the wetness. if it wet, the core is leaking.

it should only fog up when the cars good and hot, it leaks, then turns the leaking coolant into steam, we all know what happens in the shower.

i may not be explaining it thoroughly. I had been driving for almost an hour before it happened the first time. the second time it happened the car was warm and I shut it off for only a few seconds and when I restarted it the problem was gone.

not sure, all i know is sweet smell, and fogged up windows = a leaking core 99% of the time.

pull the carpet up and see if its wet.
