Heater core cracked

Well recently was changing the coolant in my car and my heater core decided to crack. Now I have to spend over $600 to get it replaced. Is it easy to do by yourself or is it recommended to bring to a GM dealership?

I've never done this on a GP, but did it on my '97 GA GT. Wasn't overly difficult to do, just alot of reaching and standing on your head to get to it. DEFINITELY worth the headache (literally) to do it yourself. I'm sure there's a how to on here somewhere.

i did my regals core, your on your back twisted up good, driver side, pass side back and fourth over and over. it sucks but id rather not pay 600? thats a crazy price BTW.

if you have not by passed the core you can do that by looping one of the heater core hoses back to the alt bracket, so the alt bracket ports are connected.

Yeah I bypassed it right away. Didn't want to waste anytime. I'm paying 600 for multiple other things with the HC. Upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, thermostat, aluminum coolant elbows. All that stuff.
