So I got a frozen boost FMHE and a fan to mount behind it to help pull air through. I been trying to decide how to wire it but im not sure yet. Does anyone have a suggestion or how they wired it?
 


You could wire it with the stock fans or you could toss it on a switch. Most of the time you won't need it. But you could flip it on when you do.

if you like you can buy a fog light wire kit, it comes with a relay, wiring and a switch for about 15 to 20 clams. wire it up like it says just replace the word fog light to fan.
 
Well I was kinda thinking of a 3 way switch. High-auto(tie it into stock fans)-off. If I splice it into the stock fand, would it affect the stock fans?


Matt, what do you mean proper ducting?
 
i would use one of them VW radiators, and then use one of these adjustable thermostats in the inter cooler radiator. this way you can set it at what temp you want the fans to come on. and you have all the air from the grill area to pull air from.

this is what i used for my last truck when i swapped over to electric fans. i wired it up so it had a on/off switch as well so i could turn them off if hitting flood water.

you can just hard wire it and forget about it. but a power switch and a small light in cab to let you know its on and working is a good idea. call it a fail safe. no light/ no pump, no beating on it. because im sure you will be tuned with it on and working.
 


you can wire it up like this, the adjustable t stat would wire up from the fan power plug, then the powered from the relay to the t stat. it has its own directions, and is easy to add to this diagram.

if you have wire already and want to buy all the parts needed separably, make sure you can solder the female plugs on for the relay, and every other connection where you splice wires, and use shrink wrap on them as well so the job last more than a year.
 
Going back to the Scotty diagram, I prefer to use an ignition power from the fuse box under the hood, mount the relay next to it and then use a ground from inside to switch the relay on/off. That way you don't run power through the firewall.
 
Thanks Scotty, that is prolly gonna be what I use. I like your idea therr Bill but I think my ignition switch is bad or what not. My DIC, blower motor, defroster, and DRL dont work at times and I jusy havent gottwn around to fixing that. So prolly not the best power for the fans at the moment.
 
So, can I get you cats to educate me a bit?
Why the fans on the FMHE? I've never heard of this, but it sounds smart to me. Which did you buy?
Is there any advantage to putting it on the rad fans to wait until the coolant is hot enough? Disadvantage to always-on?
 


Air is lazy and will go around the fmhe rather than through it unless its forced through.

A fan will only help with cooling down after a run at the strip.

Most of the time, pushing the gas will increase flow through the fmhe.

depends on the situation really... AND location of the FMHE... I dont have fans and my temp hardly goes a few degrees above ambient just driving around town on my setup.. but at the track when your car is just sitting I can see it helping a little bit...

so having the fans running the whole time prolly wouldn hurt but wouldn really help much either...
