heads and cam

looking at getting heads and a cam. Is it worth putting almost double into the stage 3 ZZP aluminum heads compared to the stage 4 intense heads? I was first looking at getting stage 4 heads/cam from intense but I see and hear a lot of people running ZZP heads and cam

Goals for the car?

Seriously.

Tossing on a ST4 Cam/Heads isn't your common thing considering its over .600 lift.

goals for the car is to make it not a daily driver if thats what your asking lol. id def start getting tranny work done to it after the the heads and cam

it would be nice to know your power goals and how you want it to drive in order for us to give you a better idea on what heads/cam setup you'd enjoy.

Best advice I can give you is read up on what your getting into.

For starters...your going to need lots of beefed up valvetrain components, a built transmission to hold all the power...and all the headwork along with it.

Plus you have to figure in all gaskets, fluids, time, beer.

It isn't cheap.

ZZP Al heads.....

The issue of the head lifting off the block and warping has been raised....

Suggested that if the 6 bolt style was used then it wouldn't be a concern, but it'd require a custom block.

And now you're talking BIG money.

IS3 heads and an S3 or XPZ cam would be nice. or an S1X or XP with 1.8 RR's if you dont want to rev that high.

you're going to want a larger rad among other things such as the previously mentioned transmission issue and the unmentioned tire situation.

Summary? MONEY, lots of it.

Figure about 2-4 grand...then toss another grand in there when you didn't figure it in because you'll always buy more sh1t.

So...maybe set your budget at five geees

well I promised myself to not get another girlfriend till I get 600hp so money isnt as much of an isssue with that out of the picture xD in all seriousness though I really want a hella fast pontiac cuz I know everybody hates them. Ill be happy with it when I reach 10s

youre not gonna do that on any setup unless you have a metric **** ton of money.

600whp is A LOT. why not shoot for 400ish? that's at least still attainable on a nice, healthy turbo setup.

Why bother doing all kinds of heads/cam bull****. Pick out a nice turbo cam and you can make an assload of power with a properly spec'd turbo.

i was talking about 600 crank, not wheel. Not trying to do nose dives xD

*edit* i wanna keep the supercharger because nothing can beat the sound of the whine, unless I just get a boombox under the hood with a cd on repeat of a sc whine and just keep it playing when i drive =P

Having done a big build, I'd go turbo if I were to do it again. I can always play SC whine soundtracks on the radio for the noise I prefer as well.

Personally I'm old school and would go with the cast iron heads. Stage 4 is nothing more than stage 3 with stronger springs.
