Headlights & Dashlights don't turn off in daylight

2008 Grand Prix 3.8L

The car has auto headlights, but, they no longer turn off during the day. Just wondering if there are any known issues that I can look for when troubleshooting. I assume the sensor is the little round dome, middle of the dash near the windshield. If that is bad, is there an easy way to replace it? It is possible that it is the multi-function lever, but doubt that, it was replaced fairly recently with a non-GM part.

Any ideas to start my diagnosis would be appreciated.

One other thing, if I try to turn the headlights off via the multi-function switch, it chimes and the DIC displays headlights suggested.
 
Yes, it's likely that light sensor. Should just be able to gently pop that plastic panel off around the dash/windshield and get to the sensor itself. Just be easy on that plastic trim piece as it's thin and now brittle from sun.
