Headlight replacement; Spec-D with HID kit or back to stock and a retrofit?

My car: Stock 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix SE

Hi! I'm new to these forums, so I'm a newbie and need some advise. I've already experienced the nightmare of the Spyder halo projectors and recently realized that ICPW are also Sonar headlights too. (Exactly the same model, just cost more) I was originally trying to replace the OEM headlights that are fogged over on the inside. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with these Spec-D headlights. I came across an HID pre-installed kit the other day, and I'm considering getting them custom installed just because of the hassle I had with the Spyder headlights. Although if I could do it myself and save some cash, I'd get them installed as a last resort. I'd really appreciate any insight and helpful opinions on which would be a better way to go.

I'd like to start off by saying, welcome! Enjoy your time here and don't hesitate to ask questions. MOST of us are pretty helpful - albeit you will run into the occasional hater.

Now, as far as these headlights go, I'm not particularly helpful when it comes to 97-03.

What I will tell you, and most likely what everyone else will tell you, is to avoid these all together. My suggestion to you is to get either black housing headlights and run HID's in them, or you can retrofit some stock housings (or the black ones too, whatever works.) Retrofit really is the way to go and if you have any questions about it, you can ask myself or most anyone else here.

Hope this helps.

Pretty well all of those headlights like you linked are from the same production line. Different distributors is about what we see. As Koniig said, go with black headlight housings and HIDs, or do the real deal (Retrofit) now and be done.

First welcome to the forum. In regards to the lights these are not as good in terms of light output compared to the spyder lights due to the H3 bulb in these that are usually meant for a fog light. These still have the same issues as the spyders with vibration. You would be better off retrofitting a set of projectors or a brand new set of stock lights/black lights.
