Headers, Pully Drop, Tune Tips Please

Hey guys,

I'm finally getting to mod my baby in the next couple weeks and I am excited! I am putting in solid poly mounts, my ToG header with DP that W-Body suggested for it, dropping to a 3.4 pulley, and then sending out for my tune at Overkill (heard great stuff). I was wonderinng if you guys had any tips or tricks that I could use in the modding process. I saw the How-To of easy header removal from Bill, but is there anything else? I will take picks this weekend and then when I am done put up more! Wish me luck and thanks guys!

lol you better wait on that pulley....and I would suggest either rockers or a cam with the pulley unless you do a 3.5/3.6 and more timing.

Plus, overkill is going to take awhile to get.

On the header install, you have the super bent pretzel dipstick to go with it? Pull your old exhaust out, put in the dipstick, then the rear and crossover. I always enjoy installing TOGs as they can require two people for that rear crossover flange. Another way I've gotten around that piece as one person is to put two fully threaded bolts (say ICM bracket studs if you have spares) and use two nuts to secure one stud to the rear header flange, then the other stud to the crossover flange. This is because of the angles and tools you can get in there. When you put it together, it takes one more nut on each to secure the other flange to the stud that is holding itself for you. Get the front piece on and conected to the crossover as well, then tighten all crossover bolts equally and you've succeeded past the toughest part of Togs.

I was looking into the safely modding the 3800 and it was saying a tune was a really good thing to have and that with the mods above I would be able to support a 3.4 drop. With the tune I was just going to have one sent and get the core charge then send mine back. Any input? I am also gettinng help from a buddy with the headers so that makes the headers somewhat easier I suspect.

Headers is one of those jobs that you can do by yourself, but is a million times easier with a friend helping.
