Hd transmission on base model?

Hey guys, so I'm on my second transmission and it's not messed up or anything but it's definitely not going to last forever. And I was looking up the prices transmissions just to get ready for when it does need replaced but then I wondered could the 4t65e hd be matched up with the l26? I'd imagine it would but I didn't know if there was more to it than that or not. Any extra parts or features keeping it from working right? And most important would it be worth the hassle?

It would have to be tuned for it. As the gear ratio would be different than your non hd transmission. The passenger side axle is also a different length.

The HD transmission is not any stronger in terms of internal parts, not worth the hassle if you ask me.

^^^^ i have a top swapped l26 with a 4t65hd. Only reason I did HD was because my forward apply band was shot anyway and I was doing a LOT of highway driving so the higher gears were handy. Now that I drive mainly city and still stuck with the HD I miss the 3.29s

Okay cool thank you guys. I'll probably just get another of the same transmissions and get a good shop to rebuild it right and see if that one will last 🤞 but you guys probably know more than me if I only have a base model would it be worth getting a gt or gtp? I'd love to have a gxp but my insurance is already dumb expensive. They just don't make any upgrades for the l26 and it's hard to find even replacement parts for me. I don't want another car payment but if it would be worth it I'd trade mine in for a better one.

Should look into a topswap. Get to keep the same car only with a lot more power and actually a bit more than a gtp with equal mods. And can be done under $1k with everything including headers

Contact Triple Edge Performance for a rebuild kit. TEP is the go to when it comes to upgraded/rebuilt trans or kit. Also look into a shift kit and a transmission cooler.

Depending on your insurance company a GXP isn't actually that much more expensive. I went from a 99 GT coup to an '07 GXP and the insurance went up 300 per 6. As a driver who only had a license 3 years its not bad at all.

I've never even heard of triple edge before thank you man! I've always relied on zzp. And idk what's up with my insurance but I pay 250 a month for the one I have plus a 300$ car payment 😂 I'd love to have one I just need to wait til my insurance goes down some. I've only been driving for three years too
