hey guys. its been awhile since ive posted. heres my problem. last week i had an exhaust leak in the headers. i fixed the leak. i think. first start after i resealed them it ran for 5 seconds. the same thing happened three more times. then it wouldnt start. it cranks but it wont turn over. i have spark and the proper fuel pressure. the weird thing is that i sprayed starter fluid down the TB and it would start for a little. any ideas? thanks in advance

There's a small fuse able link behind the battery, check that....

My buddies gtx did the exact same thing you are describing last summer.

It almost sounds like the car is running off the fuel after it primes the system, but then does not stay in low speed mode after the car starts. Maybe fuel pump resistor? You could always try the bypass method and bend the pin (pin 85?) out on the resistor and see if it will stay running.

Are you talking about the connection that has 2 black wires on one end and a green and grey on the other?

i replaced the resistor and it didnt go into low speed mode. so far ive replaced the maf the map and the iac.

Can you leave the fuel pressure tester on the motor while you start/run it? I'd bet it shows pressure when you first turn the key, then it dies off as it runs. What is the fuel pressure showing anyhow?

You sure you have spark? I would take the plug wires of one of the coils and see if it arcs between the two when turning it over. I would also check the grounding strap for the coils that is on the coil pack bracket.

That sounds more like a spark problem than fuel.

yeah they arc. i got electricuted. lol the fuel pressure is 46 with the key on accessory. then when i try to crank it it jumps to 52. i just sprayed starter fluid down the tb and it ran with high rpms.

The gtx was acting exactly the same... run off ether, and carb cleaner for a short amount of time, had fuel, had spark... Small link in the wiring harness somewhere behind the battery, I don't remember exactly where, and don't see a diagram anywhere online to refer you too.. But, I'd be willing to bet that's ur problem..

I do not remember what it was controlling, I just tried to get a hold of my buddy to see if he could remember what it was effecting, but he didn't answer.. I'll post an update as soon as I get ahold of him. It may be more of a resistor than a fusible link.. Either way, it was bad, causing the same issues. If anyone has a diagrahm of the under hood wiring, it should show it.
