I had my service light come on and I read the code which said it was the high temp fan. I took it to my local dealer and I was told my entire main fuse box needed to be replaced ( the one under my hood ). The cost was $1300, they did a price match which lowered the price to $1100.
After paying for the repair I left on a trip ( medical trip 300 miles away ) 90 miles out I get the service light again, I read the code again and it was the same code that I just paid $1100 to replace. I got home and took it back to the dealer and this time it was in need of a new high temp fan which I paid $288 for, I wondered if I really needed the main fuse box so I asked and I was told that the high fan relay was not fitting in the slots tight and it was causing arching. I looked at the original part and it looks brand new. I have 72,000 on my 2004 Grand Prix GTP
I would like to know if the fuse box can be tested by someone who has a unbiased view, this way I can know for sure if the $1100 fuse box really needed to be replaced or was it the high temp fan that was the part that really needed to be replaced.
thanks
