Has anyone done anything to 04-08 fog lights?

I can't find anything really for the fog lights other than HIDs. It seems to be a part that nobody thinks to modify. My car is an 07 with the signal/fog combo. I was hoping to find a black housing set but came up with absolutely nothing lol I'm assuming there's no way to get close to the same output if I painted the inside of the housings black?

Unless you retrofit a projector into the lower portion of the fogs.. Anythings that you paint black will effect light output you need the chrome reflector.

Is there by chance some kind of reflective black paint out there somewhere?

I was just hoping to darken them a bit when the lights aren't on. I thought about trying to lightly tint them, but I don't know if it's really possible to do such a light smoke to not really affect light output. I wouldn't need them black, but one coat for example wouldn't turn out great i would think?

Maybe I could see if there happens to be a set in a junker sometime. Then at least I'm not risking anything lol

I would apply a tint meant for lights that way it doesn't totally kill the output.. Sort of like window tint. I wouldn't spray them unless a body shop does them because that vht stuff has a purple tint to them so when combined with white or halogen colors it's going to shine purple.

I used nightshades for my tails for the first time not long ago. Didn't seem to be anything of a purple hue, even on my reverse bar. But maybe it would be different on the strictly clear lights?

Btw, I don't use my fog lights usually, I am more concerned about the light output of my marker/signal light.

With amber bulb it'll appear purple. Taillights are fine to do it with. Window tint or actually headlight/foglight tinted sheets will be your best bet not vht

My bulb happens to be purple at the moment anyways... Lol but I am definitely curious if vht does end up purple? Like I said, it seems completely black on my reverse bar?

Grab a amber bulb from the parts store and stick it in the rev light and light them up to be sure. I haven't used vht in years so it may in fact be different now but I remember amber and vht ended up being purple.

Lol that's a weird combo to make purple, but stranger things have happened :P thanks for the advice!

I stumbled upon this while searching for the fog retrofit thread I found a while ago. I'll post the link here if I manage to find it, but I recall someone retrofitting the fog projectors from a GXP into the lower portion of the split fog/turns that come with other 04+ models.

That would allow you to black out the rest of the bottom half, and the GXP projectors are incredibly cheap on Rockauto. Even if they aren't amazing, I feel like they're still going to be 10x better than the ****e fog lights the rest of the 04+ GP's get.

As of now I have a jumper wire with an inline diode in my fuse box that keeps the fogs on with my lows because they're 99% aesthetic light once you have some Morimoto retrofits. Keeps them on when I use the quad high beams.

Edit: Now I see why I remembered the thread, I asked what fogs were used :P

Seems very simple.

For reference how crappy are the GXP fogs compared to a 97-03 fog if you happen to know.
