Hardshifting after new fluid and filter change.

I went and got a trans fluid and filter change and it was fine....I went out for a few errands it was fine.....but after sitting home for a while I went back out and it started shifting hard......so I called the trans shop and they told me to bring it in and they will scan it. So then I asked a friend who is a master certified GM mechanic and he said I could reset the ECM....which I did by disconnecting the battery and then the hard shifting stopped....and now I'm told that the ECM will learn my shift patterns which is fine but I want know if you guys think this will be a serious issue or a fix? I'm torn....seriously
