Hard thud sound

Okay so when i have the car in 1 around 5500 rpm it will start to shutter and try to shift, but when i have it in d it dosnt have this issue and will go all the way up to my 6100 rpm shift point. Not only that, but when it is in d, sometimes it will make a large thud sound around 3k rpm. any ideas?
