Happy Thanksgiving to all

I figured that since I may not be on much over the holidays I would wish everyone a happy thanksgiving just in case I dont have an opportunity to do so after today.

Its that time of year again and the holiday season is getting ready to kick off. While we are in the midst of economic upheaval and many things seem uncertain and confidence is probably at an all time low I encourage each of you to take a moment and reflect for just a moment.

While it may seem that we are being tossed to and fro and we are just leaves being blow from here and there amidst the storm of life we ALL still have a great deal to be thankful for. Sure, we could say well we are alive, breathing and all that but really there is so much more.

Many of us will be taking trips to spend time with friends and family and if you take a moment to ponder you will see there is much more to be thankful for. If are married and look over to your spouse, take a moment to be thankful for all that he or she has been through with you. The ups, the downs, the disagreements and wonderful moments of bliss that you have shared. Be thankful that at this moment, in this time, on this day, you have each other.

Be thankful for your friends that are there in times of need and there to provide that voice and that insight that may be difficult to realize when you are faced with life and all it can present. All too often we take friendships for granted and we need to take a moment and realize and be thankful for the contribution that they make to our lives. We, myself included, often find it easy to 'dump' on them and yet they remain, they take what we dish out and yet remain true. And like spouses there may be times of disagreement and times it seems you could conquer the world. And as with spouses we need to cherish the high points and celebrate the times that you disagree, because even that offers an opportunity to strengthen the relationship, to grow and become more than you are.

Be thankful for all that we have. More so, be thankful that even if we lost our cars, our houses, our toys and all the material things we hold on to, we still have each other. We still have a community that is made up people, friends, family and so on that EACH have something to contribute. And its that contribution that makes groups like this, a community like this so fantastic to be a part of. There is no contribution that is too large or too small and there is no such thing as an insignificant contribution.

The question has been asked "What does it take to be great?"

I have answered that question before and the truth is there is nothing that can be taken from you that will make you 'great' or cause you to become 'great'. No, not one thing can be taken from you that will cause this to happen.

However, there is something that you can give. That if you choose to do so and do it without question, without consideration, without resentment, without motivation and without ceasing, then you will become great.

What is this thing that you can give? Yourself!

Today and during this holiday time as we ponder all that we truly have to be thankful for I would also encourage you to consider what you can give of yourself to make someones holiday a thankful one. Whether that be of your money, time, talent or whatever it is. It is in those moments, when we sacrifice of ourselves, when we seek out ways to give when there seems no way to do so, THOSE are the times we achieve greatness and change the world.

Have a happy thanksgiving everyone.

Very well said, and much to consider. Posts like these and people like you are the reason I really enjoy this forum. I truley hope that you yourself and your family enjoy your holiday season and I will be sure to put my efforts into this season to better it for those around me.

I'm about to hit the road for 5.5 hours heading back to Memphis. Only get back a few times a year. I'm giving Thanks for low gas prices. :)

Happy Thanksgiving all.

You have a damn good way of putting things Synthetic.Just last week when i thought i could get no lower, lost my job,got screwed out of 1500 bucks from a "close friend",car problems etc etc...things took a change for the best and i got a job working for the fed gov,got car fixed, the close friend is not so close anymore...lol.Granted this new job is gonna put me outta state and away from the family during Christmas.I feel good about myself and my life at this point. One thing i always told myself when you get to a low point in life is someone out there has your problems 10 fold. That thought would keep me pushing and striving to better myself.Besides all the good and the bad that has happened in the past week or so,im still alive and kickin and have a great fam to support me in all my decisions....and that my friends in what i am THANKFUL for....Happy Holidays to you all!!!!! ;)

Feliz Dia del Pavo mi AMIGOS = Happy Turkey Day my friends

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!! I have to look after my Grandma that is visiting..... 4'10" of FURY!!! LOL!!!

and too all a good night!!!!!

synth you are one long winded dude. but really good stuff.

I do my best. See, when I was growing up and in school you were expected to take time to organize your thoughts, to have solid reasoning behind your positions on things and be able to carry it from concept to fruition in an explanation that anyone could follow your thought process all the way through.

But in today's video world with 0.00000025 second attention spans, that cant stand a movie, TV show or video game that has a scene consisting of more than a few sentences and more than a half a second long, all that teaching has gone out the window.

Its a shame really because you learn a lot when you are forced to understand why you think the way you do then have to explain it in such a way that anyone should be able to follow along and understand.

Ahhhh, the good ole days. Before long I'll be sitting on the porch telling kids gas used to cost $1.00/gal and that Mustangs still suck. :th_laugh-lol3:

Happy Thanksgiving All!!

Don't worry about it SyntheticShield, this is probably one of my shorter posts. Grew up by the same standards and wish they still applied.

Be safe and enjoy the time off, family, food, etc.

Best holiday wishes to a great community!

Great post as always Scotty! Happy Thanksgiving to all! We have been waiting all year to fire up the frier for another turkey.... well except for Superbowl Sunday lol We hope everyone has a safe and great holiday!

Agreed GREAT post Syn! Dont worry about the ADD twins ;)

I gotta travel to Louisville on Turkey Day to see my folks. Just got off work and got most of the car setup and ready to go. Gonna crash on the couch for a few and then hit the hay and get going early in the AM to be in Louisville by early afternoon.

I would like to take this opprotunity to say Happy Thanksgiving and all that good holiday cheer as well. And to all of us out on the highways going to families wherever they may be, be smart and get their safe!

And see you all back here on Monday! :th_peaceout:
