Posted this question on the noob forum yesterday and got no response. i am no noob and i have owned two gp's and this is my second. I have done 100 percent of all of my own mods. need a little help on wiring cuase i lack the know how. i recently purchased a 2001 gtp special edition (sweeet upgrade from my 97 gt) and i want halo's. need some suggestions. heres where i need help: car already has HID's but when i use the ac or heater it only works on level 5. 1 thru 4 shut off headlights. have no idea wats wrong. maybe the current HID's are causing it?

This thread starts with halo's, moves to A/C issues then to HIDs

Where does one start???
And another thing

you say you do all the work yourself but cant wire???

prolly drawing to much power do you have a relay harness for the ballasts or it could be a bad ground

wen i say mods i mean mechanical not wiring. just want to know if the HID's are causing the problem because im already thinking of changing the headlights

shouldnt cause that kinda problem, it wouldnt cause the blower not to work, with out other things messing up

If you take the HIDs out does 1-4 work? If so, then you probably have a cheap ballast or a poor ground. I've heard of HIDs causing problems in older cars if you dont have an antiflicker/anticode capacitor installed.

Buy a digital multimeter and a set of bed of nails test lead adapters.

Learn to use a dmm. Solves your problems :-P

Could it be a weak alternator (not supplying enough current for everything)?

But in all seriousness do a process of elimination. Try stock bulbs if you still have the stock headlights see if it works with those. Also a good ground for a relay harness is the one underneath the driver's side headlight. And learning to use a digital multimeter is a good skill. Also go over to the12volt.com they have lots of people that can help, car electronics is all they do.
