Had to remove my window tint :(

When I first got my GP, I had the windows tinted. 20% all around except for the windshield. The legal limit in Ohio is 50% light transmission on the front door windows. Including the factory tint, it's about 12%. I know it's 12% because I've been pulled over by bored cops 4 times. Each time I've paid the fine. Well this time was the last. I went ahead and stripped off the tint on the doors. I snapped a few pics before and after.

It's such a stupid law because Indiana is just as North as Ohio and their laws state 30% light transmission. Texas is even darker, 20%. In these states nobody would bother me. Ohio also requires front license plates, too. Dumb. I may write my representative.

And after. Makes me sad.

I don't feel so bad for you, I mean you did get pulled over 5 times for the same issue and now you had to do this.

Might have been cheaper to just have the fronts re-tinted to 50% to save you the fines.

I hear ya. My 2 door looks horrible with the massive front windows clear and the rest 5%. It's like a fishbowl again

i would post my pics to make you feel better but didn't want to jack your thread

To be fair, this was the 4th time I've been stopped for tint. But was given a warning once and 2 tickets. By removing it this time they will throw the ticket out.

It's too bad. Dumb state law.

Guess it depends where you live. I've been pulled over a few times for other things and my tints were never even mentioned.

Isn't there some "medical" exemption you can get for dark tints?

Yes you can get dark tint if you have a light sensitivity and have documentation in the car to prove it. I'd have to bribe my doctor. :) My retired neighbor's wife has a light sensitivity and I told him they should get some dark limo tint on that minivan of theirs. Lol.

Don't worry California doesn't allow you to tint you front windows. Make the car look naked.
