So lets say I get rid of my GXP and want to go with something cheaper like an older GTP, do they even make the GTP in a manual? and would say 4 or 5k do any kind of significant modding? I just dont know anything about them but I know there is all but squadoosh for the GXP and I get bored with it sometimes because there is nothing I can do to it. Any help or input would be cool, expecially from the ones who have modded gtp's (Bluegtp, bballa, kuntzie) thanks.

for a manual you gotta go way back to the early 90's grand prix's.

i would get your self a 00-02 GTP for around 4-5k and mod it for another 3-4k and BAM fast and good car.

nah wouldnt want to pay $2500 just to make it manual seems like it would be put to better use with power, do the gtp's have tap shift? dont know that I can get out of my car but I would like to get in a way cheaper payment and or payed off car.

yea screw car payments lol, I remember those days of the mint condition 94 integra ls paid for and ran perfect and I was dumb enough to trade it for a payment.

The 04+ GTP Comp G's have Tap Shift. It'd be the same body style you have now. They also have 3.29 gears which you would like :D

the tap shift does a worse job of selecting gears than just letting the car handle it. its a useless thing to have in the car.

If you get one from 98ish or so, it'll have a performance shift button which will raise the shift points. A tuned PCM and you can have it set for normal mod to be economy and performance shift to be your "race" mode.

there are things you can do to the GXP as far as mods. i hate to say it but where did you see that the 04'+ gtp comp g's came with 3.29 gears? they are exactly the same as the 97-03 gtp trans and the same as the GXP trans other than the GXP has some more hardened parts in it. Beastly i will recommend you go to ls1tech and do some searching on mods there alot of good guys willing to help out and some new parts coming out and things.

04-05 Comp G's came with 3.29 gears.

i had a 04' comp g and it did not come with 3.29 gears

You actually spent enough time to check to see if the car had a 3.29 final drive ratio? And if you really did, then either a.) It wasn't really a Comp-G, or b.) it wasn't a Comp-G.

it was a comp g my mom bought the car brand new from the dealer in 04 and when i got it 2 years ago i wanted to upgrade the trans and had it checked out and no 3.29 gear. I checked everything out and it was a comp g

Then GM screwed you over. All Comp-G's had 3.29 gears, and I guess if that's the way it came, and somehow you could prove it, it'd be a rare, albeit worthless, car. Obviously 2.93 gears is a downgrade, but it'd be rare at least... but that'd be if you still had it, which you don't. But I suppose you've checked out your GXP tranny too? It should also have 3.29 gears.

yes the GXP has the 3.29 gear and to be honest i dont know why someone would want to go from a GXP to a GTP?

Gas, price, god forbid noise, or simply, if downgrading far enough, maybe you prefer the old body style, particularly if you want a coupe, you'd have to be in the 97-02 range.
