GXP Engine noise

Just curious to see if anyone else has experienced this sound before. The video really doesn't bring out the sound but you can kind of hear something. What I notice upon revving, or just low speed acceleration, is a sound similar to that of a turbo spooling. It is coming from the pulleys but I cant determine if it is from the alternator, or tensioner. Any ideas or thoughts?

not ur belt man sounds more like a pully..
here is my annoying belt squeek.. listen closely

- for some reason by video didnt pick it up... will try outside maybe tomorrow if its not snowing. but its literally squeek.....squeek.....squeek.

Take it off? Wont that mess something up? LOL

only run the engine for a minute or 2 to hear if the sound is gone. the only thing is the water pumps not turning, so if you run it for maybe 10 minutes or more it may over heat.

you'll know if the sound is gone right away, if it is, then start rolling your pulleys around to find a bad one. the one that feels loose or wobbly is the bad one. more then likely a idler or tesioner pulley.

How much do those run? Will it just get progressively worse or will it just break?

yeah its hard to hear anything. How many miles are on yours?

Ok cool..even though its a DD, I still don't drive it all that often. But once my GTO is back together, I will take it to the shop and have them do what they need to do. For now, I will just drive it like it has a turbo since it "spools" like a turbo lol.

in my old 2004 grand prix v6 it used to make winey noises and it was altnator but was when i gave it gass under load..

Update...still running with no issues. I had a friend check it out and he said that it sounds like a PS pump. But not sure. I guess I will just wait until it breaks lol. I know the pump was changed about 30,000 miles ago so I am surprised that it would be going already.

It could depend on what it was replaced with. Some aftermarket pumps don't last very well. I have seen that many times.

Another Update....Had our local go fast shop look at the car and give it a once over. The following repairs are needed on the car....Power Steering Pump, Steering Rack, front hubs/bearings, brake booster, 4 new tires to replace the incorrect sized and dry rotted nexen3000s, and a coolant flush and that's it. Not bad for a 105,000 mile car. Anyways, I had them replace the Hubs/bearings since they were real bad and had them flush the brown, sludgy coolant that was causing the cars temp to fluctuate too much. Apparently someone added green coolant to the dexcool. I will have the PS pump and rack fixed soon and new tires put on but I am actually impressed that the car was in this good of shape once I actually had a trusted shop look over the car. Now I just have to deal with the wine from the pump that has progressively gotten louder and louder since I posted this thread. Oh well, it kinda sounds like a S/C! :-)
