gtp exhaust leak??

My 03 gtp is louder than hell lately, it sounds like its coming from the back manifold or where u bend is. Is this normal on 3.8's? Gona go through and check the bolts and pipes once the car cools down.

get your car up in the air, when its cold, start it get under it and feel for air blowing out of the pipe or res or muffler, start at the front, it heats up fast.

if your car has the stock exhaust on it still you will need to get stuff re welded in or if you can weld it yourself, thats a plus.

if its all clamped in and had been replaced its easy to replace whats rotted.

i found it easier to just drop the whole cat back, remove it from the car to work on it, 2 bolts at the cat and the rest is just rubber hangers. the mufflers have 2 bolts to drop the bracket that holds the rubber hangers, i took them 2 bolts off, and the muffler dropped real easy. they are the only hangers that may give you a problem.

plan on picking up a new cat to res gasket and 2 new bolts for it, they will break or strip out. truth be told its better if they just break, they never come off. i had to cut one off with a grinder as it stripped out the heads of the nut and bolt real easy. the other one snapped.

I've been under the car once and it looks like the resonator has already been chopped out and another one welded in. I can weld it so that's no problem but how much would a new resonator cost or would it b better to just get a cat back exhaust system ?

what you can do is get a glass pack muffler form auto zone or who ever, they run about 25 bucks. measure your old res buy one close to its size. if you still have a cat to res flange, you can weld on a flange and then weld the pipe on the other side.

i got my flange from a muffler shop, the local stores dont have it here. and you need a 2.25 id glass pack.

then cut one tube off and weld the flange on.

I have a set of glass packs laying in the shed but I didn't know u could use them, gona look tomorrow but I think they're about the same size and already have the flanges

if you google a walker resonator for your car, the glass pack looks the same. at a 1/4 the price. it will sound stock.
