Grr. Axle Nut Size?

Finished rebuilding the Trans on the 98 GTP. As I was sliding that bad boy back under the car, a sharp corner pieced driver outside CV boot. So I'm going to get a boot kit from Car Q, but there is the matter of a big-azz nut, so I can pull the axle out of the spindle. I have no socket that big. <anymore> It looks about 1 1/4 in, 32 mm? is that right? I've heard 32,34,36,37 MM. Anyone know? Will a 1 1/4 work? Does it need to be shallow walled?
