Grinding Transmission Noise in my 1999 GTP

Picked up a '99 GTP from the city for $350. No key, 227xxx on the Odo.

Got a key made today, charged the battery, and it starts!

However, when I go to shift, there is the horrible grinding and rattling that you will hear in the video I'll post below.

I have not tried to drive it yet.

Carfax says the transmission fluid was changed August 2012 at 192xxx. It appears to still be full and clean.

Sound is worst in reverse, then drive. Gets less scary moving down in the gears. Anyone heard these sounds before? Sound like a replace/rebuild? Something to try on my own or to let a shop do it? Any help is very appreciated.

That's one hell of the noise. Not sure the transmission pump would make that, it would have blown up by now for sure. I'd almost want to check the torque converter area, like the bolts and flex plate or something.

Okay, reply time:

As I said, I had not tried to drive it. Today, I went in and let off the break, and no movement. I got just a little slip of reverse, but I call it a fluke. Park also does not work.
The speedo did not move in drive while giving gas, but it did move about in reverse while giving gas. (No dumb questions.)
Took the video to my mechanic, and he figured it was the flywheel. He said he'd tear into it, was confident he could get me moving without much money. So unless y'all think any of these options we discussed are easy enough for an amateur without a lift or engine hoist, I'll be dragging it up to him.
