Grinding noise when driving around

I replaced my friends front pads on her 2001 SE and i drove it around for 10 miles, then to her house about 20 miles away with no problems. She drove it for a day then told me there was a grinding noise when she drove, the loudest at a crawl. I thought it coulda been the pad grinding on the old rotor, i had that problem with my 98 GTP, but when i jacked it up and spun the front passenger side wheel at the speed it was makin the noise and there was no grinding noise. i noticed the the front driver side wheel would wiggle in and out towards the engine when the lug nut were on tight. I was told it could be the wheel bearings, help would be much appreciated.

They don't have bearings per se - they have integratd hubs. They are replaced as a whole assembly. If she curb checked the car she may have cracked it.

Unfortunately, it's a pricey repair.

If you can wiggle the wheel when it's jacked up, then you may also have loose or broken suspension components (tie rod ends, ball joints etc).

Look at it when it wiggles and see where the wiggle is coming from. If the knuckle does not wiggle with the wheel, then it is the hub assembly. It is not an expensive repair if you do it yourself and is easy to do. A new hub assembly is about $100 for a good one like Timken or SKF from somewhere like rockauto.com. Bring it to the dealer and it can set back up to $400.
