Grinding noise in reverse, then no movement

Hey guys,

So I was pulling my 98 gt out of a parking space (with the wheel cut to the right) and it started to move and then made this horrible grinding sound and the revs when up and no more movement.

I was able to push the car out and drove it home OK.

So question is, does this sound like a transmission problem or something with the axles? How can I tell?

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to see if she can make it to a tranny shop. Going to try after work tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.

[guess I'll be getting it rebuilt from the sound of it]
 
Just got a call from the shop, not gonna believe this: The problem was a missing bolt in the front caliper causing the wheel to bind in reverse. :th_nervous:

So the tranny lives for another day.
