Grinding Help

I am thoroughly stumped with my car. It's an '04 with 230,000 miles. Only one thing keeps her from running near perfectly. When I'm accelerating, about the time I pass 3k rpm it starts making a grinding noise (almost like it's from the engine/transmission) but there is no noise of it beforehand. So what could cause it?

More info? It a GTP? Does it ONLY do it while accelerating, not when revving it at park/neutral.

Its N/A and I'm not sure about if it does it in park or neutral
