Grand Prix 2008 Base with clunk noise

It sounds like a clunk noise or metal hitting when going over bumps but not all the time, it is hit and miss and if I go over speed bumps no issues its only when I'm going at a good speed and hit a bump on the road that I hear it. I replaced front and rear struts and Mounts as they were over do, steering gear shaft as it was leaking, rear stab links, this was done all last week, front outer tie rods was done last year. Anything else that can be the issue? The sound is coming from the rear. Also I can I determine what part is it, Thanks

The rear doesn't often clunk, how many miles?

And you mention you did rear sway bar links, I hope you did the fronts too as they go bad much sooner, and make lots of noise when they do.

I checked the spare tire but I didnt take it out of the trunk and then drive around, however it was secured pretty good. The sound is hit and miss does happen all the time. Not sure If I replaced the front sway bar as I bought the car used in 2010 but just last month the mechanic told me the things I need to replace hence why I did the change, the car has about 75000 miles but it does not have any play in the front, I changed the back because it have play. I cant define the sound not sure if its a clunk or not but what rear sounds does it normally make when there is a problem?

steering gear shaft as it was leaking

what part are you calling a steering gear? ^^ cause only the rack, or the pump, or lines can leak.

check the ball joints, and that all the exhaust hangers are in place.

I also have another issue and its certainly coming from the driver side brakes. When I apply the brakes and come to a complete stop and then move up slowly and then brake again I here this clunk/pop noise, I did re-lube the pads last month and that didnt help, the pads and rotors are new as I replaced them 3 months ago and when I did I didnt have any issues until recently. Can it be the caliper, backing plate etc... I think it started to happen when my wife drove with the parking brake on for like 10 seconds or so, dont know if that caused the issue or not. Is there anything else I can check, as mentioned in my earlier post the other clunking noise when going over the bumps is rarely there so im focusing on the front end noise now.

Thanks

you need to just give your whole front end a look over, sway bar bushings, end links, ball joints, all that stuff can make sounds on you.

I also have a 2008 grand prix and am chasing a few clunks of my own. Since you already did the rear stabilizer links, the only other thing I can recommend checking from personal experience, is that the emegency brake line is not loose. I had a mean rattle coming from the back and it turned out to be the emergency brake line near the right rear tire; there was a mount back there that was no longer secure and making tons of noise over bumps. It was more of a rattle though, not a clunk as you are looking for. I just threw a couple small zip ties to re-secure and it's been fine since.

I also have a couple clunks in my front end I haven't been able to track down. Glad to know I'm not the only one chasing noises.
