Grand Am problems.. Help!

My friend has a 95 Pontiac grand am and there have been a few issues going on. first, the coolant is leaking and it seems to be getting on the belts. I did a visual inspection and it is coming from the inside part of the belts/pulleys/engine block. Not really sure if these cars had any problems with coolant leaks, but we just cant pinpoint the location.

Next, when he puts some pressure on the breaks, we hear this mechanical click noise and the brake light or abs will go on for a few seconds then disappear. I got out of the car while he braked next and it is definitely coming from the engine bay. BUT, when we go to brake hard nothing happens. His brakes are fine and they have been checked out. Sounds like an electrical problem, but again we aren't sure of the exact location or part that is causing this to happen.

The next thing is that he said his mph gauge was going/fluctuating up and down when he was driving at a constant speed. he described it as if he were revving the engine and "you were watching the rpm gauge".

Hopefully you guys can give some good advice because we definitely need it. Thanks!!

right there is the problem its a grand AM as in asking for MONEY. i also had a sunbird that the spedo went wacky on it. maybe the speed sensor.

yes you are correct but it sends a signal to the computer first to tell it hey here is the new pulse. the speed sensor can send over 4000 pulses per second so if pulses are not getting through then its a simple fix if no than your wires are bad and need replacing from your speed sensor to were ever they go.

gotcha, now any suggestions on the other problems?

As far as the coolant is concerned put some die in it and follow the path back.

You may want to check the master cylinder it may be faulty or has water in the lines. Im not to sure based on that...

The coolant is a bright green so it should be seen, it is just so cluttered where the pulleys and belt is that it makes it difficult to find a drip spot.

As far as the mechanical clicking noise...what in the world could that be?
