So my friends got gtp with a t-67mm Turbo...It has 400+ at flywheel.we were rolling down the E-way doing 60.He puts it to the floor broke he tires loose and got traction and broke 4-5 wheel studs :th_toothless: damn 18s hah
 


ouch, hope there wasn't too much damage after loosing a wheel at 60 MPH(hopefully it stayed on somehow!)
 
Thats a bummer, right on up there with " I hate it when I can't find a place to dock my yaght", Maybe next time they should torque thier lug nuts to spec and not just use the impact wrench, or maybe they just plain forgot to tighten them all together after puting the lugs nut on snug tight and lower the jack.

I had a camaro club member do the same thing a few years back... it's just crazy to break wheel studs on a lauch... then again, he broke everything in his drivetrain (tail shaft and axles at least) and just kept replacing the broken stuff with and upgraded version, so the onlything left was the wheel studs!

Wheel studs do not break from power, they break from not being torqued properly.
The torque load of the axles should never be tranferd to the wheels via the wheel studs. The wheel studs hold the rim to the axle flange, it is the pressure between the rim and axle created by the nuts on the studs that hold everything together. If the pressure between the rim and axle is not great enough, there will be slip, just like on a manual clutch and pressure plate, if there is slip, it puts the wheel studs in sheer load and they are not design to handle that type of load, so they break.

not all larger sized wheels are heavy, but ok..... i wasnt there so i wont speak on it. and brake stuff or break stuff lol. guess the daytona wheels break things quicker than the torque stars to then?? just asking not being an ass, i know they are heavy to.
 
Yea the heavier the rim the easier it will BREAK stuff. Got it right this time.;) They will wear the brakes faster too from the more rotating mass.
