• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Good morning.

Joined the site more for my parents than myself however it is always nice to talk to the experts such as yourselves so hear goes. To this day we have a 2007 Buick Lucerne. 3.8L L26 so on so forth, for the 4th time I am currently replacing those ridiculous bypass hoses (not me personally this is my first crack at the car) Fortunately I work for a towing company we get many wrecked or totaled vehicles that we can do whatever we like with. I so happen to find out that they have the 3.8L of which I pulled a supercharger off of the series 2 engine from a 01 Riviera, however unfortunately we crushed the car before I knew of this site and realized I needed the heads LIM and such but some areas got me confuzzled.. Thought to myself, how awesome would it be to surprise the parents with a supercharger on there Lucerne? It would be a swell idea if you asked me. Fortunately I have read your Top Swap Info before posting up but I may have a few questions if I could pick your guys brains a bit? Figured it would be awesome to have something a little different than everyone else plus my parents no longer drive the Buick as often as their brand new 2016 V6 Dodge Charger. So I would like to spark a new (different) flame on to this car so each can drive one of their cars without feeling left out...

Welcome! I always thought a hopped Lucerne would be cool, heh.

With the top-swapping effort wouldn't it be better to just use a Gen V vs. Gen III since there's a 20hp gain, efficiency and such? IDK, I'm far from knowledgeable on the subject, hah.

Why thanks guys :-) I am aware the Gen V would be more efficient but you can't beat free. My questions are more aimed toward How I would route vacuum, would the electronic throttle work with this system? Will the throttle body bolt on to the Gen III SC from the L26? Which map sensor would be recommended for this application? Would a simple ECU flash work? Can I Run a single belt with this set up like the L26 has? Will I have to change that one tooth timing? And I will be running the 36LB injectors and a custom pulley for the SC.

My thoughts as far as I can gather is I still need the heads, LIM, the pulley/balancer from a SC engine, new bolts. Is there anything I am missing here? I would love to have all my ducks in a row before I even start to take anything off of the car. What am I missing? Which specific parts will I need or am I way over thinking this? GM is not my strong suit so I would like to run into minimal complications if I can...

The throttle body won't bolt to gen 3. It should bolt to a gen 5. I'm not aware of a adapter to put your TB on a gen 3.

If your going to do heads, you should also do the double pulley harmonic balancer from a L67/L32. Get all the brackets pulleys from a donor car.
