Hey guys im runing my GTP at the track today its a 98 with a intake, high flow cat, u bend del and res del. any advice on how to get the best times? launching advice anything

oh and how much gas should i have im on about 1/2 right now

im trying to get the best time so i can see how my mods improve my car in the future (adding 1.9 rockers, headers, plugs, t stat, 3.25 pulley and custom tune)

take your spare and jack out....any unnecessary weight. The key to the launch is not to spin, so try to baby it out of the hole before going 100% WOT. I went with less than 1/4 of a tank.

Have fun and take video! :)

whatever rpm range it starts spinning, rev just below that

make sure TCS is off!

X2 on the video

Yes when i first went to the track i left my tcs on and 15.7 then i took it off and yes i was a little pedal happy but took off and went to 15.445 lol. just baby it like lawngoose said at the beggining then hit it lol. Make sure to take a vid and post it up.

read this closely:

Newbie Guide Racing 101

there used to be a better thread on regalgs.org that went really indepth into launching, but proably got lost when it changed to .net. some say put the car into 3rd, others 2nd then shift to 3rd, some say it doesn't really matter and just leave it in D. Best of luck, i hope this helps.

Best, Lenny

All stock before the mod bug dug in :P

first run left in "D" and TCS on... felt like a retard, went too happy on the launch and still knocked a 15.7 :th_laugh-lol2:

did it again properly and ran a best of 15.2... mind you it was too humid to be tracking her but the whole group went with so we just had fun. Rolled in at just over 3/4 of a tank... still a good day

hopefully income tax will get me acouple more mods before the track opens back up in the spring

good luck and post the slips :th_thumbsup-wink:

no, just dont be a noob and hammer it. the key is rolling into it then giving it just enough throttle to make the tires squeal but not spin.

hey guys ill post the video as soon as i get them i was glad my dad and i had a grudge match my gtp vs his 76 vette with a mildly built 327

for now my best run was a 15.02 with a .578 RT now reaction time counts against your 1/4 mile time correct?? which means the car with a perfect launch can run 14.5s ??

No...reaction has nothing to do with it. They don't start timing it until you actually hit the pedal. You could sit there for 30 seconds it doesn't matter. What was your 60 foot?
