Going to 3.4. Quick question.

Going to run this setup with 3.4:
CAI
3" Catted DP Bolt on
ngk tr6 plugs
180 t stat
DHP PCM
Modular pulley from zzp
Port the front exhaust manifold

At the moment I have tried to get my car tuned by a two different people. One was HP Tuners and one was DHP Tuner (I think)

The DHP tuner was tuned with my stock pcm. It was uncessful. I bought a DHP PCM off of ebay (yeah I know). Works fine but a friend attempted to tune it with his HP Tuners and was not able to dump the pcm.

My question is, if I run the 3.4 setup, will I need a custom tune to use the car after parts are installed? I would hate to buy and install the parts and I can't drive it because of a tune.

Thanks for the help!

you should be okay with just the DHP 1.0. they ran a pretty safe PCM setup. the 3.4 isnt that much different to run than the stock pulley, but you just need more fueling to keep up with the couple extra pounds of boost youre going to make.

DHP PCMs are locked, so you cant tune them. you just have to overwrite it with something new.

Have you scanned for KR with a stock pulley? I would get a scanning tool and see what your KR is first before dropping pulleys

Yes the car has been scanned stock. There is zero knock.

Also I posted this on clubgp and they were all very upset. The said I HAVE to run headers with this setup. **** I don't have money for that >:|

F**k ClubGP and all their BS...your mods seem fine...you got the U-Bend gone right? I assume so since it is a bolt-in DP, just wondering...if not get rid of that.

But I'd say you are pretty safe to run a 3.4" on a base DHP tune...

It would be a wise investment to at least add a plog with the other mods you have before dropping to the 3.4 pulley. A ported front em will not be good enough! spend the few dollars more, and get at least the PLOG to go with your other intended mods. I would talk to TDCracing to get the real deal on the set up. I made the mistake of running a 3.4 with only a cai, colder plugs and 180*t-stat for about a month. why?... because someone said it would be ok. It was my ignorance to not follow up until I joined this forum. Now I have done everything suggested by TDC and a few others. I got the zzp plog, 3" dp with cat, and OVERKILL pcm. I did not think that the car ran bad before making these mods. But was not impressed by adding just the 3.4 and cai. It did not seem to run bad but it did not run any faster. It wasn't until getting the other mods complete (2 weeks ago) did the system really come alive!! I drove it just after completing the mods when the temp finally warmed up to the upper 40's. I still need to get it scanned, but I don't drive it in the winter so I have some time. There was a huge noticeable difference in performance, and now i am much more confident that I will do no harm to my engine! I can't wait to get it scanned so I will be 100% confident. I only wish I could take back that month or so that I did not have the correct mods. I hope that It did not hurt the longevity of my engine. But I don't beat on my car so I don't believe that it did?

If your car is 2004 and up it does not have a u-bend. 03 and under, I believe that you will still need the u-bend delete, but ask TDC for sure. I think that if you order the dp with a 02 sensor bung, it does take away from the need of a u-bend delete... but check again with some of the others for sure. Mine is a 04 gtp so didn't have to worry.
