Gen 3 on L32?

I just went to junkyard as I look for a good set of heads and a LIM to port. Well I found an 04' GT with a long block in it and evidence of LIM gasket leaks. I pulled the LIM, but I felt the heads weren't worth it. Total sludge bucket. New heads will get resurfaced, new seals and a valve job along but I don't want to have to replace valve guide, everything else is a given.

anyway I am going to do my own IC and would like to know if the older Gen 3 will fit on a Gen 5 manifold to use for mock up?

I dont think it will work because the pcv between the two versions is different, and inlet and outlet differences will through off your work between the two generations

I'm just looking to make an adapter so the PVC can come later. Just as long as as they sorta match up I'm just looking to fit the IC between the two.

Only major difference between 3 and 5 LIM is the size of the inlet.
Some gen 5 manifolds don't have O-ring counter bores and some have a tube sticking up for the EGR which can be pulled out.

Ok, thanks for the info. This manifold will go on my 05' eventually so I'm going to port it and look into the other mods done. Definitely going to tap and plug the coolant passages since I live in TX. I have access to all kinds of materials I'm going to look into Delrin (acetyl) Phenolic and Aluminum. Im going to use the Laminova system I have it it's feasible. I see a lot of manifolds cut for much larger inlets for those specific IC, from the standard vendors.

I calculated the surface area of the heater cores we use in full size Intercoolers. Essentially an aluminum ribbon 1-3/4" times lots of feet.

Laminova looks great but my best estimates couldn't fit the same surface area in the same thickness under an intercooler.

Love to see something new for the 3800's

I would sport a grand prix with a supercharger protruding from the hood if it meant a massive intercooler that dramatically decreased air temperature. I already had to do a custom hood scoop for the phenolic intercooler I am currently running

there is enough space, but you will need the turn down adapter

aluminium transfers a lot more heat than the phenolic

So if I do this its going to take a hell of a hood. Just the side plates are 12.5" long and 2-15/16" tall. If I cut the cores by 3rd it might work. After I get the manifold cleaned I'll mock it up. Need to swing by my storage and pick up an SC.

the intercooler that sseilmnop does is phenolic sandwiched my aluminium. I dont remember the thickness. zzp used to make a phenolic but not anymore. sseilmnop is the only option for a phenolic intercooler. my car is lowered about 1.5" in the front so I installed spacers to raise the engine and transmission back up. after I installed the intercooler, the hood wouldn't close, so we cut a hole in the hood and installed a custom scoop.

Man were talking about 5", may be able to cut it to 4.5" I'll have to see once I pull everything together.
