Gas tank removal

My gas tank is leaking on my 2000 GP and want to replace it. I picked up a new tank and straps today. My question is if anyone has tackled this and what am I in for. Im pretty good with cars and don't have a lift so i'll be doing this on the ground. OR am I better off just to send it to a shop. If so any suggestions on a garage? where I live ( on the cape ) none of these shops have the time or just don't want to do it. I need to get this done seeing my wife used the car with the kids. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've done it without a lift. Remove the fuel pump through the access door in the trunk, so there's nothing to worry about there. 2 bolts plus rubber hangers drops the catback. It's nice to have another person to get the filler hose connected/disconnected. Get the rear end up as far as you can to get the straps low enough. It doesn't look like there'll be enough room with the car on jack stands, but there is.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I'll post again if I think of anything else.

Thanks for the info. Im going to give it a whirl this weekend and while Im at it I guess I'll do a little undercoating , oil change and whatever else I can get myself into under there
