Gas Problem

I have a totally stock 97 GP GT... and it's getting a maximum 16 miles per gallon, babying it. I've seen GTPs getting 20mpg in the city driving like a bat outta hell, and I'm wondering what could be causing this.
Help?:th_scratchhead:

How are you figuring you're mpg's? That could be the problem right there.

I'm taking the total miles driven (re-set at each empty tank) divided by the number of gallons in the tank. Low tech, I know, but I don't have the nice computer in the dash to tell me at the push of a button.

that is how i figure mine and with how i beat on my car and how it isnt tuned i still get 18-19 mpg, so there has to be something wrong.

GT's will always work harder than a GTP....

Simply the fact that the motor does not have to work as hard for air..since the SC is constantly pulling it in. this is why GTP's get better fuel economy.

There are steps you can take to get better, but they might not always work.

fuel filter, up keep, etc....

when all else fails... you can retune it for economy...
