Gas milage problems. Help a girl out ;)

So, just put gas in my car and calculated all the numbers to get the gas milage. It turns out I'm getting 12-13 mpgs. And I drive the highway everyday. Anyone know what's going on?

Sorry to ask but are you sure you did the math correctly? Post what you calculated.

Does your car have a red display in the middle of the dashboard? If it does, learn how to use it and you should be able to get instant gas mileage and an average gas mileage.

If you don't have that display it could be many things. Tell us more about the car (mileage, your history with the car) and what maintenance has been done to it that you are aware of.

I'm not an expert but here are some basic maintenance items you may be in need of:

-Air filter
-Spark plugs
-Spark plug wires
-Cleaning of Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
-Cleaning of Throttle Body (TB)
-Tires inflated properly?

If it's none of these, someone else may be able to help you further.

My fiancé calculated it. He did how much gallons I put in by the miles I put on since last fill up. I have 123,000 miles on my car. When bought the car almost years ago replaced the plugs and wires then. I have a base model so no display for gas.

So you are only getting roughly 220 miles to a full tank of gas???

I'm using 220ish a mileage and using 14-15 gallons of fuel as a general guide here, thats roughly 14ish mpg

Use the search function on here - I'm sure there are other threads about this. You have your car in your signature so I already knew that; my 08 base has lots of information on the dash computer.

Sounds like its something bigger than what I've dealt with so I'll leave it to the others on here. Have you done mods that could have affected it? Looks like you were messing around with exhaust at some point...

Check and make sure you have no fuel leaks, and also make sure that no one is stealing your fuel from your car. If your car was really using 12-13mpg on the highway, it would cause some drivability problems, probably a melted catalytic converter in short order.

Ok. Here is everything that happened to my car. So everyone can sort it. Previously put a glass pack res on it. Then had my upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets and my heater core. Got it done at my work. Costed me $687

Fuel leak, or he did the math wrong.

Fill your tank tomorrow, reset trip odometer.

Couple days from now(or when your below at least a half yank), fill up and divide miles on trip odometer by gallons added from pump.
