Gas Indicator issue

I'm having an issue with my gas hand. When I start my car the gas hand is where it should be, depending on how much gas I have in my car. Within a few seconds it proceeds to move up to "Full" and stays there. I never know how much gas I have in my car while driving. The only time it will move, other than when I start it, is when its getting close to empty and my low fuel light comes on. Also, I have had the gas hand move to empty and the low fuel light come on when I know the car is almost full.

Any ideas??

might try checking the sending unit in the tank, first, the connections also. other than that it might be the instrument cluster acting up or the bcm (body control module) although i havent heard of any issues with that on our cars

Thanks. I'll have to get the guy that works on my car to check that for me. I know his wife's Bonneville does the same thing.

This is a common problem with some GPs. It happened in my first GTP and I changed out the entire fuel pump assembly. But there is a guy from CGP that did a nice write up on changing out just the sending unit:
