Gap In Rear Valve Cover After Gasket Change

I just got done doing the gaskets on my gp and on the rear one there is a small gap on the left front side where the alternator goes. I haven't put the alternator back on yet so idk if that will help it seat or not. I torqued the nuts to spec so there should be no issue there. Also when I went to take off my coolant elbows to change them, a big chunk got stuck in the tensioner assembly and when I went to dig it out, some pieces fell into the assembly. I'm hoping they won't get sucked in and clog up my cooling system. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure the gasket didn't get out of place when tightening the bolts down? If the pieces fell into the assembly, couldn't you just turn it upside down so they fell out of the hole?

I guess the gasket could of shifted.I did have a hard time getting the bolts to go into the holes so I would slightly move the cover to help them line up so that might of moved the gasket out of place. And ya, I could try shaking the elbow pieces out heh.

Another quick question. Is it necessary to bleed the cooling system after doing the valve covers? Obviously I would fill the coolant that drained out, but was wondering if it's necessary to bleed it.

You don't need to bleed the coolant for the valve cover gaskets, that's only oil. But for the tensioner assembly, yes, I'd recommend doing that. There are some write ups I'm sure on here and some good videos on YouTube if you need it.
