FYI - Don't overfil your tank.. When it stops, consider it full.



It doesn't leak as far as fuel splling out.

I have always been one to fill right to the top, even some times over filling and spilling. I've never heard of the issue before, and to be honest, I don't think it is a issue at all as the light never came back on after they erased the code.. It came up on their computer as a large evap leak.. They cleared the code and its been good since.. I must have not screwed it on tight enough.
ON previous vehicles, I always got a check engine light or SES light when i had issues with gas cap, but on the GP i never got a light. Just the screen saying check gas cap.

What the hell is a check gas cap light? I haven't had the light come on before either because I've never heard of it haha. I've always been curious, is there something inside the gas tank that causes the pump to stop when the tank is full? I've just never understood what causes the pump to click and stop pumping.

From how stuff works

As the gas level in the tank rises, the distance between the dispenser nozzle and the fuel grows smaller. A small pipe called a venturi runs alongside the gas nozzle. When the end of the venturi pipe becomes submerged in the rising gas, it chokes off the air pressure that holds the nozzle handle open and shuts down the flow of gas. Unfortunately, this shutdown can sometimes happen before the tank is full as the rapidly flowing gas backs up on its way into the tank. This can cause the gas handle to spring open before pumping is complete, leaving the annoyed customer to squeeze the handle again and risk the possibility of overflow. Pausing briefly will allow the gas to continue into the tank and the pump nozzle to start pouring gas again.

That is not always true. I really hate to go in to the store to pay for my gas, I dislike prepaid. Anyway, at this gas station I went to, they had gas for 3.05 cash (a while ago) but there was a lot of customers in the store and I didn't want to waste time. So I used my bank card and guess what?... I paid 2.96!
 
I've had to replace charcoal canisters and related plumbing due to customers packing thier fuel tanks but I can't recall it ever happening on a grand prix.
