FWI(fender well intake) question. Exhaust(cat) question.

Alo. I just put a FWI in my '02 GP GT. I used my own ideas(stock rubber pipe that comes off intake cut to correct angle, a 4" stainless steel pipe cut to approx 16", and a spectre 4"x7" cone cotton filter). I cleaned my air flow sensor with brake clean and blew it off with compressed air and made sure everything was spotless prior to final installation. She idles fine and runs fine during normal acceleration. The problem is when I get the gas peddal to about halfway and beyond. It still makes the amount of noise the engine usually does but it's acting like it's not getting enough fuel for how much air is being sucked?? Pretty much it accelerates fine up until 50% throttle but after that it make lots of noise but almost seems to bog down with 80-90% throttle. This is the first only mod I have done. Also anyone know if I can cut my cat and downpipe completely out and replace it with a straight pipe without messing a bunch of sensors up? I would probably reinstall the o2 sensor into the straightpipe.

Thanks for moving my post to the right place man! And which of the two options would be the least expensive(the mad simulator or having it deleted out)?? Also if anyone knows: I put my PCM inside a plastic bag and wrapped it with packaging foam to keep it dry... Does this need lots of air flow to keep it cool?

Dude take the PCM out of the plastic bag. It's electronic equip it needs to cool some too. I as well as alot of people have just zip tied it down to where the original airbox had it. It won't get wet unless you drive through a river.

Water will be running in threw the bottom of the door before it reaches the pcm. So if water starts comming in the passenger compartment stop and back up.

the older version grand prixs must be more sealed up than the 04 plus. i can see my tire thru my wheel well. anytime its raining, the tire is throwing water all into that area, not to mention if i hit any puddles the water that gets in there.

jess said she hydro locked her motor because of here fwi when she hit a puddle.....

nothing wrong with being percausious and putting the pcm in something, pcm tray or something.

Well living in a tropical environment, we get torrential downpours where the road quickly turns into a river with no warning... So I will be essentially driving thru rivers a few times a year and backing up down an interstate is frowned upon. I've driven for a while and felt the PCM and it's cold so I think it will be fine in a bag... How about my power above 75% throttle????

i have the same problem. water gets on to the metal where my pcm sits when it rains. not to much water was getting onto my intake just inside the motor area. so i think i might just duct tap the wholes shut on the plastic wheel well lol.. ghetto but i dont feel like messing up my car.

just an fyi, duct tape dont hold to well when it gets wet. i tried to duct tape the glass peices on top of my fish tank that broke, and the evapiration from the fish tank got the tape wet, and it would not hold the glass.

might wanna try and find some plactic covers or something.

to my understanding, the PCM is pretty well waterproof

I went with just a short ram intake... less risk of water getting in, although i'm pretty sure a fine mist might penetrate :(

Also, you said stock rubber pipe... you don't mean the flexible stuff do you? If you post some pics it may help

well there wasnt alot of water in there but i only drove for 20 min to gas station and back and there was enough for me. and i dont car if it holds or not. i duck taped the inside and outside maybe it will atleast slow the water done till i can get a new plastic well. its supposed to rain till friday night so i need something :/

i had same proble, ash blowfish--filter fell off!, i shortened the pipe so noe the filter sits 1/2 in the engine bay and the rest just hangs over inside the fenderwell...i always use mass air sensor cleaner f.y.i.

The rubber flex intake elbow that the maf sensor is mounted in, well I cut that at that first rib closest to my intake so a 4" pipe would fit tight... Might sound redneck but it fit great, I didn't have to worry about making a new mount for the maf, and it actually looks good... I'll take some pics tomorrow.

This is why I made a Damn Plexi Glass BOX All the way around mine and then pull insulation tape everywhere
